Speaking to reporters during a recent conference call, the singer said that he expects to successfully balance his commitment to Aerosmith with his new judging gig on American Idol.
"We're already booked for a tour for November-December, that should be South America and Japan, so what you hear in the press of Aerosmith getting in the way of American Idol, it just isn't so," he explained.
The 62-year-old added that he and his bandmates will meet in Los Angeles later this week to begin recording their first album since 2004's Honkin' On Bobo.
"We've certainly been writing. I know [guitarist] Joe [Perry]'s got some licks, and I got a bunch of songs that I've written for solo and/or Aerosmith," he continued.
Tyler will begin a "writing programme with the band" to work out new songs this Saturday.
Aerosmith have released 14 studio albums since the band started recording in 1973.
