Adele met Tedder in balloon-filled lift
Published Thursday, Jan 20 2011, 08:10 GMT | By Nick Levine
Adele has recalled her unusual first meeting with producer Ryan Tedder.
The singer met the OneRepublic frontman - with whom she has written two songs for her upcoming album 21 - when they were staying at the same hotel during the 2009 Grammy Awards.
"I got in the elevator with about 100 heart balloons and then Ryan got in as well and all he could hear was my cackle, which I think has become a bit infamous!" she recalled. "He was kind of searching through all the balloons to find me and we were like, 'Amazing! We've definitely got to work together now'."
The singer - who won two awards at the Grammys that year - also revealed that she and Tedder came up with the title for 'Turning Tables', one of the songs they penned together, while she was ranting about her unpredictable ex-boyfriend.
"I arrived and I was quite upset because I kind of in the middle of all the rubbish that was going on at home," she explained. "I turned up and I was just going, 'Who the f**k does he think he is? Always f**king turning the tables on me!' [Ryan] took that and came up with the phrase 'turning tables', which I loved."
