Voters have chosen Daz Sampson to represent the UK in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest in a live public poll.
His rap track Teenage Life was picked over entries from big names Antony Costa and Kym Marsh. Other hopefuls included male group Four Story, singer Goran Kay and female duo City Chix.
"I knew the British public wouldn't let me down," Sampson commented after the BBC One poll. "It's time for a change, it's time to go out there and do something a little bit different and I hope that on 20 May you will all be behind me."
The artist – whose track Out Of Touch made the top 10 in 2004 – will take part in the contest in Athens on 20 May.
