Cut Copy to replace Doves at festival

Cut Copy have been revealed as the new headline act at this year's Playground Weekender.

The Melbourne synth-pop act, who release third album Zonoscope this week, were asked to replace British band Doves at the New South Wales music festival after they cancelled their tour of Australia due to a personal matter.

Cut Copy frontman Dan Whitford told AAP that they are basing their set on David Bowie's 1970 Young Americans tour.

He said: "I think he lost a lot of money doing it, so we haven't quite gone to the same lengths. But we were inspired by it, we're trying to create the Zonoscope world on stage."
