The singer returned from a three-year break with his third album Obsession last November. The LP peaked at number 15 in the UK chart, while the lead single 'Gotta Be Somebody' hit number 12 following a performance on The X Factor.
"To be away for three years and then chart at number 15, which is where Obsession debuted, that doesn't happen to a lot of people," he told Digital Spy. "It just goes to show that my fan-base is still there and I'm working my butt off to ensure that it stays there."
Ward also addressed a report which claimed that he would be dropped by Simon Cowell's record label SyCo this year.
"All's absolutely fine," he said. "Obviously I had a three-album deal so it's up for negotiation now. Really those rumours are just lazy journalism. It was a three-album deal and we'll negotiate getting the next deal. That'll all be taking place in the next couple of weeks."
Ward kicks off his 'Up Close And Personal' tour next month.
