The band scooped the prize for 'Album of the Year' at the ceremony, beating off competition from Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum and Eminem.
The City of Montreal's website today features a banner reading: "Bravo Arcade Fire for its 'Album of the Year' Grammy!"
The Canadian heritage minister James Moore also paid tribute to the band, tweeting: "A thought: I'm a big U2 fan, but perhaps U2 should be opening for Arcade Fire on July 30th in Moncton instead of the other way around."
Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler paid tribute to his hometown while accepting the award, saying: "Thank you, merci, to Montreal, Quebec, for taking us and giving us a home and a place to be in a band."
