The clip of the promo for 'Hold It Against Me' was placed online ahead of the premiere of the full version later today.
Friedman - reunited with the singer for the Jonas Åkerlund directed video - previously admitted that Spears "freaked out" when he showed her some of the choreography he wanted her undertake.
However, when the short clip premiered last night, some fans directed their complaints at Friedman via Twitter.
"Britney Fans... I DIDNT edit or direct the video so please do not place hostility at me if you aren't happy with what you have seen or see (sic)," he responded. "Britney worked her ass off for this video and she and I hope that you all love it."
One message sent to the choreographer - also known for his work on The X Factor - read: "You would say that- she employs you!!" Another added: "I hope it's not a bunch of turns and hair flips and arm movements... we've seen that already aka Circus Tour."
