Earlier this month, Coxon sparked rumours that the Britpop group were recording new material, after posting an ambiguous message on Twitter which was picked up across the media.
"Now off to see the Blur boys and have a coffee and maybe switch a tape recorder on," Coxon's tweet read.
The guitarist has now clarified his comments, suggesting that the four-piece group had simply been enjoying a jamming session, and that no serious work has so far begun on a follow-up to 2003's Think Tank.
"Every now and then we like to meet up and record a few things," Coxon admitted to NME. "Maybe turning the tape recorder on and jamming around a few ideas.
"I suppose it might turn into an LP in six years or something," he suggested. "We just do stuff when we feel like it."
The band reunited after a six-year hiatus in 2009, performing a special concert in Hyde Park as well as headlining Glastonbury that year.
