Since the group disbanded for a hiatus at the beginning of last year there have been rumours on the internet that they have permanently split.
Speaking to US radio programme The Gunz Show, Stump stated that "Fall Out Boy never broke up".
"That never happened. We really need a sarcasm font on the internet. We never had that conversation," he added.
"A lot of kids would come up to me and say 'It really sucks you guys broke up'. I'm like, 'Man, unless you know something I don't...'
"We just went on break, you know, whatever. I just wanted to clear that up."
The band released their last album Folie à Deux in 2008.
Stump is currently working on his debut solo album and recently released a six-song EP titled Truant Wave.
