Prince performs surprise concert for fans

Prince surprised fans at a record store in Los Angeles last night when he performed an impromptu gig in the shop.
According to Launch, the star performed some of his hit songs such as Purple Rain and Let's Go Crazy in front of 500 fans wearing a white top hat and jacket. It was a very informal concert, with long-time collaborator Sheila E joining Prince for a few numbers. Prince also apparently invited members of the audience up onto the stage for a dance contest.
500 fans were apparently given wristbands to enter the store, while hundreds more were left outside in the rain due to limitations on the concert space.
"It was an impromptu decision. He lives in LA," said Serena Gallagher, publicist for Prince's label, Universal Motown Records.
