The singer told the Daily Record that he had received a number of offers to appear in projects since 'Whatcha Say' was released in 2009, but that he had decided to concentrate his efforts on music.
"I've turned down a lot of movies and commercials and one of them was for an autobiography of Jimi Hendrix playing the main man," Derulo explained.
"That would have been really cool but I can't do it because I'm trying to balance my album and tour."
The 21-year-old added that his work has been set back after developing a throat condition.
"My throat doctor has put me on vocal rest for five days... If I don't let my vocal cords heal, I may develop a serious problem. It's such terrible timing, as I'm trying to complete my album," he commented.
