The Scottish band were due to tour the States back in 2007, but frontman Kyle Falconer got fined for possessing cocaine, hindering the visa application process.
Speaking about his visa finally being approved, Falconer told The Daily Record: "The US visa came through.
"I got the phone call the other day, after waiting for three-and-a-half years. I've been working hard and cleaned up my act and stayed out of trouble, so it was well deserved."
Falconer described how he felt "cheated" out of a chance to crack the US market and how he wanted to work hard to prove people wrong.
Elaborating on the plans to travel to the US, he explained: "We've had tours there before that were sold out, so it'll be good to get back and, hopefully, there will still be a buzz.
"We will probably have to start again with it but it will be good."
Their third studio album Bread and Circuses is due to be released March 14.
