The 'Good Vibrations' band have given their approval to release previously unheard studio material.
The album, due to be titled The Smile Sessions, is to be issued by Capitol Records.
Two Beach Boy associates - Mark Linett and Alan Boyd - are to co-produce the record, which is due to be available to buy later this year.
Brian Wilson, the mastermind behind the Beach Boys, stated: "I'm thrilled that the Beach Boys' original studio sessions for Smile will be released for the first time, after all these years."
"I'm looking forward to this collection of the original recordings and having fans hear the beautiful angelic voices of the boys in a proper studio release."
