Jessica Simpson has signed a new record deal, leaving behind a seven-year pact with Columbia Records.

The Newlyweds star has now crossed over to Epic after seven years at Columbia.

The singer released a statement explaining: "I love all my friends and supporters at Columbia. I will miss them as I start this new relationship. Epic is in a new place with a new leader. It just seems the right place for me as I begin my new journey."

Simpson is currently working on a follow-up to 2003 album In This Skin.
