The band performed together in 2005 at the London Live 8 concert with Mason joining a lineup of Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Richard Wright.
Of plans for any more live shows, Mason told BBC 6 Music: "The answer is, no-one's said we will never work again.
"I think it's very unlikely we are going to go out on tour - I think Roger's really happy working on his own now, it's hard to see him thinking he'd like to come back. It's hard to see Dave thinking he'd really like to work full time with Roger.
"On the other hand, I live in hope we would absolutely do another Live 8 or play together for the right reasons. Certainly the other two know my stance on this."
He added that plans for a charity show last year were "completely misunderstood" and that the band thought it wrong to play a "relatively small gig" as Pink Floyd because it would not benefit the charity involved.
When it was suggested that any show must be a large gig for a good cause at the right time, Mason added: "The answer is you have to ask the others.
"That's my view. You might well find that the others would have a slightly different take on it, but that's the one that I've always talked about myself when I've talked to Roger about it or David about it at odd times."
Pink Floyd were founded by Mason, Waters, Wright and Syd Barrett in 1965. Gilmour joined in 1968 and Barrett left months later. Barrett died of pancreatic cancer in July 2006 at the age of 60.
Wright left the band in 1978 but continued to tour with the group and also played on 1987's A Momentary Lapse of Reason. He rejoined as a full member for 1994's The Division Bell. Wright passed away in September 2008 at the age of 65.
