In a newly released promo for her Oprah Winfrey Network series Why Not? With Shania Twain, the 'Come On Over' singer, who remarried earlier this year, revealed that she has lost the drive to create music.
"I have lost my ability to express myself and my ability to sing," Twain said. "I felt the pressure to be better and better all the time… It just affected me."
She continued: "I was slowly losing my voice and... my confidence. Now, my marriage was slowly breaking down too."
Twain further explained that she was especially distraught after learning that her ex-husband had been allegedly carrying on an affair with her former friend Marie-Anne Thiébaud.
"It was a real death. I really lost my sense of trust, compassion, honesty… that [was] all gone. That [was] dead," she added.
The musician expressed hope that her experience meeting people struggling with similar issues during the filming of her new series will help to regain her creative impulse.
Twain's last LP Up!, which topped the US album chart, was released in 2002.
Why Not? With Shania Twain is to debut on May 8 on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
