Homme fired Oliveri in 2004 but the pair have since reconciled. The bassist confirmed to UGO that he suggested a reunion when he saw the band play a benefit show in Los Angeles.
"I was down there and I mentioned to them, 'Why don't I come up and do 'Millionaire' or something, and sing it and not play bass?'" Oliveri said.
"He was like, 'Nah, I don't think that's a good idea yet.' It's kind of in his court for stuff like that. I don't think he wants to give anybody the wrong idea.
"I don't necessarily know if that would happen. And he's got a good band - he's taking the band in the direction he wants it to go. Hey, it's all good."
Asked if Homme was asked to join him on his Kyuss Lives project, Oliveri said: "I don't think he was. [Singer] John [Garcia] didn't think that he wanted to with the three bands that he's already in.
"I asked Josh, 'Is it cool if I go and do this thing? What do you think?' And he said, 'Go do it man. Have some fun!' Josh has in his studio a framed poster of Garcia Plays Kyuss in there, so he's proud of the Kyuss thing as far as I know. He's cool with it."
