The guitarist confirmed to The Independent that the siblings met around a month ago to discuss business, yet explained that "nothing was resolved".
Of rumours that they might appear together in London this June at the Ray-curated Meltdown Festival, Dave said that there are currently no such plans and added: "That would be down to Ray."
Asked how he gets on with Ray, Dave said: "With great difficulty. Let's just say that Ray can be... greedy emotionally.
"I don't know when it happened but at some point Ray kind of lost the ability to share. Emotionally - not just with money. Even though [money] would help. A lot."
He added: "But having said that Ray is a vain, egocentric, narcissistic a**ehole, I won't have anybody call him that except me. Because I love him to death. He is my brother.
"For all his weirdness and abuse and the weird s**t that he has got, I wouldn't swap Ray for anything more balanced and polite."
Last year, Dave maintained that the Kinks will not reunite because "you don't need to see silly old men in wheelchairs singing 'You Really Got Me'".
