The Glee star is due to release his debut solo LP on May 9. According to the Daily Record, Morrison described his first single 'Summer Rain' as having a Jason Mraz feel.
Having previously revealed that he is to duet with Gwyneth Paltrow on the album, he also spoke of his experience recording with Elton John.
"He's got such an amazing heart and I love him so much. I did a lot of work with his AIDS foundation. That's how we met," he said.
"He's a big fan of Glee so it was scary for me to ask him to do a duet with me. But as soon as I asked, he made me feel so comfortable. He said he would love to.
"I wanted to pay homage to his music, so it's 'Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters' going into 'Rocket Man'. It lasts seven minutes. It's epic and I love it."
The actor-singer recently announced that he is to embark on a world tour in support of his new album.
