Nicki Minaj to join Britney tour as opener?

Nicki Minaj is close to signing on as an opening act for Britney Spears's North American tour, it has been reported.

Lawyers for both stars are currently taking part in "serious talks" in order to add Minaj to the 'Till the World Ends' singer's upcoming jaunt, according to TMZ.

It is thought that a deal will likely be reached in the next 24 hours for Minaj - currently touring with Lil Wayne through April - to step in for Enrique Iglesias.

While appearing on Good Morning America on Tuesday, Spears announced that she and Iglesias would be teaming up for a series of concerts.

However, a rep for Iglesias later confirmed that the singer would in fact not be taking part in the tour, with the 'I Like It' musician later apologising for any confusion via his WhoSay page.

Spears's manager Larry Rudolph has revealed that the 26-date tour will evoke post-apocalyptic imagery.
