The Wizards Of Waverly Place star, who scored a UK top ten hit last year with 'Naturally', assured E! that she was keeping an open mind about making music with the teen heartthrob.
When asked if a collaboration could soon occur, Gomez replied: "I don't know. You know, with my friends, I always make sure that I try to keep like family and business separate because it doesn't really go well sometimes... I don't know about that. We'll see."
The 18-year-old added that she already has an idea of how her career should develop.
"Ultimately I'd like to slow everything down and just do acting for when I'm older," she explained. "But right now I have a passion for music. I'm young and I love travelling and I'm kind of embracing all that."
Gomez picked up the 'Best TV Actress' gong at last night's Kids' Choice Awards for her role in Waverly Place, while Bieber collected two trophies for 'Favourite Male Singer' and 'Favourite Song'.
Gomez previously promised that her forthcoming album will have "more depth" than earlier efforts.
