LCD Soundsystem played their last ever live concert last night to a sold-out crowd in Madison Square Garden.

In February the band announced that they would play their final gig this month, following a number of swansong performances at Terminal 5 in New York.

"This is a weird experience for us," frontman James Murphy told the crowd, according to Billboard. "In keeping with the history of our band, we hope it's going to be a weird experience for everybody."

Most of the audience honoured the band's request to wear only black and white to recognise the occasion, and a number of celebrities were spotted in attendance, including Courtney Love and Susan Sarandon.

The band played 29 tracks over the course of the concert, including favourites like 'Drunk Girls', 'North American Scum' and 'Daft Punk Is Playing At My House'.

Last week, Murphy announced that an additional 1,500 tickets had been made available after renegotiation with the venue.

LCD Soundsystem ended their final live performance with a rendition of 'New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down'.
