The 'Gypsy' singer met with students last week at Port-Au-Prince's Elie Dubois high school, which was built in 1913 and had served as a Catholic girls' school until sustaining significant damage in 2010's disaster.
The singer's Barefoot Foundation and the Inter-American Development Ban donated $400,000 (£247,816) each to go towards the school's renovation and construction costs, according to The AP.
"I'm convinced that the key to a dignified future for Haiti is through education," Shakira said to the assembled children.
Construction will reportedly begin in two months, with the project expected to take close to 14 months to complete.
Shakira has long been involved in philanthropy, acting as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and heading up 2008's 'Action Week', wherein nations around the world were encouraged to improve education standards.
Last month, the musician's 'Hips Don't Lie' collaborator Wyclef Jean was shot while in Haiti for the country's recent presidential election.
