The former X Factor group, who recently claimed that a collaboration with Rihanna "is in the pipeline" for the new LP, spoke of their enthusiasm for the project and revealed that they had already penned a slew of potential tracks.
"It's going really well," JLS star JB Gill told Contactmusic, while his bandmate Oritse Williams added: "It's off to a good start. We've written around 16 tracks so far."
The 'One Shot' boyband also hinted that they would be exploring their musical talents further on the record by playing their own instruments.
"We all want to play our own instruments. We want to take the band forward," the group's Marvin Humes claimed. "Take That inspired us. We've already decided what we're playing - I'm playing drums and Oritse is on guitar."
Gill added: "I used to play the piano and I'm going to take it up again. I feel like I've lost touch with it and I want to be able to play it on stage as well as on future albums."
Gill also assured fans that there was no need for them to fear a JLS split at present.
He said: "Before the group we were all doing solo things and that didn't work. We're strong and unified and that won't change."
JLS's self-titled debut album was released in 2009, while Outta This World hit stores in November 2010.
