The Fightstar frontman and former Busted member is due to release his first album Young Pilgrim this summer. The first song announced from the website is titled 'Down Down Down' and is an acoustic ballad.
Fightstar are currently taking a hiatus while Simpson focuses on his solo material. The album will be produced by Danton Supple, who has previously worked with Coldplay and Kylie Minogue.
Writing on his official website, Simpson said: "I definitely want this to be the first picture people see. A lot of people say, 'What is your solo stuff like?' because they don't really have an idea.
"I would always play 'Down Down Down' to them to show them. I am very excited for people to hear these songs for the first time and I can't wait to get out on the road and play these songs to a live audience."
Simpson had previously dismissed talk of a reunion with his former Busted bandmates.
