Katy B has revealed that she was brought up listening to Destiny's Child.

The 'Broken Record' singer, who is known for her dubstep-influenced sound, asserted that it was R&B vocals that inspired and influenced her when she was younger.

"I was brought up on female vocalists like Destiny's Child, then I moved onto Faith Evans and Alicia Keys. I started stealing Alicia's chord sequences and melodies," she told the Daily Star.

The On A Mission star explained that the release of her debut record was good timing as it's what the public wants to hear.

"The charts are really embracing UK underground music now. Previously it was all guitar bands.

"Now that artists like Chase & Status and Magnetic Man are coming through, it's the right time for a more rootsy sound."

The BRIT School alum recently announced that she is to embark on a UK-wide tour later this year. Speaking about the shows, she added: "I love performing live but I'm not used to doing a full hour-long set. I just want to make it a fantastic experience for the fans."

Katy B previously confirmed that her next single is to be 'Easy Please Me'.
