The Maryland fivepiece, whose lineup includes twin brothers Benji and Joel Madden, visited Barnes's house in Sydney to write a song together and enjoy an "amazing" meal prepared by the Australian musician's wife Jane.
Joel told The Daily Telegraph: "It was the best meal of our life and it was at Jimmy's house. When I grow up I wanna be Jimmy Barnes."
Barnes, whose son Jackie is featured playing drums on the track, said of the song: "We wrote it in a few hours, about three. It just flowed. I'll hopefully record it in a few weeks. They are such great, down-to-earth guys."
In response to Joel's compliments about his wife's food, Barnes added: "My wife is a great cook."
Good Charlotte recently cancelled a performance in Indonesia due to a 'very high threat of a terrorist attack'. They said in a statement that they were disappointed but that "safety has to come first".
Earlier this year, Barnes collaborated with his son David Campbell on a CD to raise money for the victims of the Queensland floods.
