The music publication has declared that it hopes to find a new Neil Young, Kate Bush, or Martha or Rufus Wainwright with its first Glenfiddich MOJO New Voice competition.
Mojo editor-in-chief Phil Alexander said: "We believe that right now there are countless unsigned musicians out there that are making vital music that does not fit in with the supermarket pop that appears to have taken over the world.
"That's why we've launched this search. We want to help someone that can genuinely write, sing and play, someone that makes music that's built to last."
Entrants can be any age and play any style of music, but all must enter an original song performed by the songwriter.
Competitors must email a maximum of one song to the Soundcloud-powered Mojo4Music website by Friday, May 20.
Organisers will select a top ten from which the public will vote via Twitter and Facebook. The top five will be announced on July 1 and will perform their tracks live in London on July 12.
