The Fleetwood Mac singer's In Your Dreams - the follow up to her 2001 release Trouble In Shangri-La - will hit stores on May 3, reports Billboard.
Speaking to the publication, Nicks revealed that she had conceived the album in 2005 following a Fleetwood Mac tour. However, she was unable to begin recording because of the industry climate at the time.
"I was definitely ready to do a record but the powers that be, the people that surrounded me, pretty much said, 'Don't bother. It's not a good time. The music business is in a terrible place. There's no money, and the Internet piracy is taking over'," she recalled.
"I didn't know what to say, because I'm not a computer person and I don't have a computer and I don't Facebook or whatever. So I just said, 'Okay.' If I hadn't been so exhausted from 135 shows I might have fought back on that a little, but I just didn't."
She went on to refer to the album as "[her] own little Rumours," referencing Fleetwood Mac's classic 1977 release.
Nicks previously confessed that she felt unprepared for the level of fame she achieved and found the experience to be "overwhelming".
Fox series Glee will pay tribute to the songs of Fleetwood Mac in an upcoming episode.
