The London-born rapper, who is currently at number 14 on the US Hot 100 chart with 'Written In The Stars', previously stated that he was aiming to release the follow-up to his 2010 number one album Disc-Overy at the end of the year.
However, Tempah - real name Patrick Okogwu - has now decided to delay the album until 2012 in order to capitalise on his recent success in the US.
"Tinie has got the busiest schedule around but you'll never hear him moan," a source told the Daily Star.
"Even when he's on a plane he's thinking of ideas for his next album, show or performance.
"As much as he wants to get new music out to his fans, he doesn't want to short-change them, so the album will come in the New Year."
The 'Pass Out' star recently teamed up with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker for a remix of his album track 'Simply Unstoppable'.
Tinie Tempah is due to play a number of festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, having been confirmed for Radio 1's Big Weekend in the UK and Lollapalooza in the US.
