Scorsese, who previously directed a documentary called No Direction Home about Dylan's life from 1961 to 1966, paid tribute to the singer/songwriter ahead of his 70th birthday.
He told AARP The Magazine: "Bob is ageless because he keeps turning new corners, beating down new paths, redefining himself and his art as he goes."
Scorsese was one of a host of stars to pay tribute to Dylan ahead of his landmark birthday, including Anthony Kiedis, who wrote a poem about how the 'Blowin' in the Wind' singer had inspired his life and music.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman said: "Bob Dylan is a wave. He's a moving body of energy built of melodies, words, rhythms, ideas, and attitudes that have swept over the world since the year of my birth."
U2 singer Bono added: "All my life, Bob Dylan has been there for me," while Bruce Springsteen described Dylan as "the father of [his] country".
Dylan's career has spanned over five decades, after he rose to prominence as a protest singer in '60s America. His recent performances include his first-ever concert in Vietnam and opening Australia's Bluesfest with Elvis Costello.
