The Welsh foursome have promised a different sound, as well as some extra material in the form of movie soundtracks.
"The album is really good so far. We've been in the studio for a few weeks and we're off to Europe next week to do some more recording," Jones told BANG Showbiz.
"The style is a bit different, we're doing some stuff for films so you'll have to wait and see."
The as-yet-untitled album will be the band's eighth studio effort and the follow-up to 2009's Keep Calm and Carry On, which reached number 11 on the UK chart.
The band reissued their first two albums last year, over a decade after their original recording.
Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable died last June at the age of 40.
