Wes Carr has revealed that he suffers from "anxiety".
The 28-year-old singer and songwriter, who won Australian Idol in 2008, said that he was on a Qantas flight from Sydney to Nashville to write some songs when he had a crippling panic attack.
Carr told The Daily Telegraph: "I was having a full-blown panic attack, people were taking photos of me with their phones and I had to get off the plane. It was horrible. I have always had problems with anxiety, even when I was a kid, but I swept it under the rug and adopted this persona of Wes Carr from Australian Idol."
Carr said that he underwent treatment on the North Coast for six weeks before he felt able to return to work on his record.
His single 'Been A Long Time', which was released yesterday, describes his battle with anxiety. His album will follow later this year.
In the next couple of weeks, Carr plans to set up busking gigs in various cities which he will announce via Twitter.
