The Australian singer and songwriter, who has sons Talon and Arlo with fellow musician Shane Nicholson, said that she feels very proud to have beaten 15,000 composers from 115 different countries to win the International Songwriting Competition.
She said that her winning song 'Beautiful Mess' was inspired by the challenge of parenting and dedicated to her children.
Chambers told The Daily Telegraph: "I honestly can't believe it. When I entered the competition, I didn't think I even had a chance being up against songwriters from all over the world but I thought it'd be a fun to enter anyway.
"Winning with the song 'Beautiful Mess' makes it even more special as it's a song I wrote for my two boys, Talon and Arlo. Guess I'd better buy them an ice cream!''
The competition was judged by Tom Waits, Rihanna, Peter Gabriel, Ben Harper and The Cure musician Robert Smith. Although the panel were reportedly overwhelmed by the song, Chambers said that son Arlo "started screaming at [her] to stop singing" when she played it to him.
Chambers and Nicholson recently revealed that they feel "fortunate" because they get to take their children on tour with them.
The couple have previously won joint ARIA awards for their songwriting skills.
