The 'Honky Tonk Women' guitarist explained that he is currently looking to work with producer Steve Jordan on a new X-pensive Winos album before a reunion with his Stones bandmates will occur.
Speaking on The Jimmy Fallon Show about his recent recording studio visits, he announced that the album "is starting to blossom".
When asked about the possibility of new Rolling Stones material, he commented: "I'm trying to nail them down, but I don't want to crucify them."
Richards recently confessed that he is "shocked" to be working for Disney on the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
He will resume his role as Captain Teague in the latest instalment Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, which is released May 18 in the UK and May 20 in the US.
