The Rolling Stones rocker has allegedly recruited a number of fellow musicians for the group including Eurythmics' Dave Stewart, Joss Stone, Damian Marley and producer A.R. Rahman.
"They just finished a record and their first video and are talking to major labels about a deal. The name for the band at the moment is Super Heavy," a source told the New York Post.
Another source added: "Each member has a very distinct and different style, but it works. Mick has been recording with Dave for a while, and both worked with Joss in the past."
A rep for Jagger confirmed to the newspaper that the musical collective have been working together in the studio, but insisted that there was no record deal in place, branding suggestions as "premature".
Fellow Rolling Stones star Keith Richards recently admitted that he wants to get the band back together and recording new material soon.
