After decades feuding with Love over royalties and the rights to tour under the Beach Boys name, Wilson has now told BBC 6 Music that he's not opposed to reforming the group for a new LP in honour of the band's 50th anniversary.
"I'm considering it," the musician. "I don't know yet, but I am considering it."
He added: "Nothing's really holding me back. I just don't know if I want to be around those guys, you know? They're zany guys. They're crazy."
The musician first formed The Beach Boys alongside his brothers Dennis and Carl, their cousin Love and friend Jardine in 1961. Dennis drowned in 1983, while Carl passed away from cancer 15 years later.
Wilson last regularly performed with the group in the 1980s and has since gone on to release a series of solo records including Smile, which feature reworked versions of tracks from The Beach Boys' famous lost album.
Earlier this month, Wilson announced that he'll be performing what could be his last-ever UK live gig at Bestival 2011.
