The singer describes his currently-untitled LP as a "coming of age" record, and has claimed that he has been wanting to strike out on his own for some time.
"I wanted to be really honest with what I wrote about, whether good or bad," Jonas explained to People. "I think it's a coming of age record too."
"It has a feel you can play in the club, but also there are songs that I think are heartfelt," he continued.
As the oldest member of the Jonas Brothers, Joe admitted that it was strange to be in the recording studio without his two siblings.
"It's a whole new experience for me," he added. "I mean a good experience, because I'm able to write songs that I've been wanting to write for a long time."
Jonas's younger brother Nick recently described his brother's debut as "amazing", and said that he was proud of what his brother had achieved.
It was recently confirmed that Jonas will launch the first single from the album next month, called 'See No More'.
Jonas's debut album is currently scheduled for release on September 5.
