The 'Soak Up The Sun' musician is the mother of two adopted boys, 4-year-old Wyatt and 1-year-old Levi.
In an interview with Parade, Crow said that she chose to move to Nashville in part because it will ensure that her kids won't have to face scrutiny from the paparazzi.
"It doesn't really exist in Nashville, so that makes it really easy," she remarked. "With regard to LA, I can kind of count on when I'm going to be sought after by paparazzi.
"For the most part, I don't take my kids where I know [the paparazzi are] going to be, with the exception of airports. I can't seem to protect them from paparazzi at the airport. They didn't ask to get into this line of work, so I feel like it's not really fair for them to be subjected to it. I just try to keep it as real as possible for them."
Crow also explained that while she shuns the spotlight, she has enjoyed taking Wyatt and Levi on tour with her.
"It's great! It's just fun for me to have them around all the time," she said. "They are the people I love most and they're teaching me every day what life really is all about."
It was recently reported that the singer has begun dating producer Doyle Bramhall II.
Crow's co-headlining summer tour with Kid Rock kicks off on July 2 at Cincinnati, Ohio's Riverbend Music Centre.
