The Academy Award winner last month confirmed that he was in the midst of recording tracks with musician and producer T-Bone Burnett.
Blue Note, his record company, has now announced that the actor's self-titled LP will be available for purchase from August 16.
Tom Waits and Roseanne Cash will appear on the record, as well as Ryan Bingham, who provided vocals for the soundtrack of Bridges's 2009 film Crazy Heart.
Bridges recorded the independent album Be Here Soon for the Ramp label over a decade ago.
In 2010, he joined a gathering of celebrities to sing on the charity single 'We Are The World 25 for Haiti'.
R.I.P.D., which co-stars Ryan Reynolds, will mark Bridges's return to the big screen.
