Glastonbury festival gets bigger
Published Saturday, Apr 29 2006, 16:39 BST | By Matthew Houghton
Meanfiddler, the organisers of annual rock festival Glastonbury, are hoping to expand it for next year to accommodate 20,000 more fans.
Although the legendary festival, which has seen the likes of Radiohead and Oasis headline, is absent from this year's summer programme, managing director Melvin Benn has said that there is ample space for the intended 175,000 visitors next year.
It would give the event its largest legal attendance but Mr. Benn, who is credited with saving the festival's security, is confident that the growth in ticket sales will not jeopardise safety.
