Lady GaGa has revealed that she drew inspiration from Beyoncé before becoming famous.

As part of an interview for her MTV special Lady GaGa: Inside the Outside, the 'Born This Way' singer recalled hitting a low point in her career after losing her first recording contract, an experience which hit her hard - until she saw a Destiny's Child video on TV.

"I cried on my grandmother's couch. She looked at me, and she goes, 'I'm going to let you cry for the rest of the day, and then you have to stop crying, and you have to go kick some ass'," she remembered.

"You know, I've never told Beyoncé this, but I remember laying on my grandmother's couch crying, and a Destiny's Child video came on. I remember watching Beyoncé thinking, 'Oh, she's a star. I want that. I want to be on MTV'. And now I'm in music videos with Beyoncé."

GaGa recently confessed that she hates the video for her song 'Telephone', which features Beyoncé, as it contains "too many ideas" and isn't edited well.

Both singers performed during last week's star-studded American Idol finale.
