Filmmaker Lynch is most widely known for directing the critically-acclaimed movies Blue Velvet and Mulholland Drive, but has dabbled in music from time to time in recent years.
The album was officially announced via a Skype address from Lynch to reporters gathered at the fourth annual International Music Summit in Ibiza.
"The songs are like pictures for me, they all have stories. There is a scene for each song," Ultima Hora Ibiza quotes the director as saying.
Angelo Badalamenti, who composed the score for Twin Peaks and Wild at Heart, has once again reteamed with Lynch for this upcoming album, which has been described as a mix of dance music and modern blues.
Lynch recently oversaw a webcast of Duran Duran's concert at LA's Mayan Theatre as part of American Express' Unstaged series.
