The original recordings are to be released this summer on CD and digital downloads as The Smile Sessions.
Writing on Twitter, Wilson said: "Can't wait for you to hear SMiLE this Summer. I felt that it was too advanced for its time back in '67. Now it should be cool. - Brian"
Tracks from the album were originally recorded by the group in 1966 and 1967 before being abandoned. Some songs from the album, including 'Good Vibrations' and 'Heroes and Villains', were eventually included on Smiley Smile.
Wilson re-recorded the LP as Brian Wilson presents SMiLE in 2004 with his touring band.
The songwriter has admitted that he is considering a reunion with the Beach Boys to mark the group's 50th anniversary.
Bandmate Mike Love last year insisted that Wilson will rejoin the group but later admitted that there were no definite plans for a reunion.
