The single, titled 'Switchblade Smile', will get its first play on Radio 1 with Zane Lowe on June 7 at 7.30pm.
Speaking to the Daily Record about the inspiration behind the track, Pizzorno explained: "I was watching an interview with Morgan Freeman. It's from the fifties. It's someone who looks really cool but underneath the smile there's madness going on there you don't want to mess about with. On the face of it, the guy has a killer smile and you keep away from that dude."
The guitarist admitted that he wrote the entire album in "three or four months" and claimed that it is "the best [they] have ever done by miles".
Pizzorno also insisted that the process was like "voodoo magic" and that he would look back at the songwriting session as if it hadn't happened.
"I was pottering around at home and I would wake up and wonder what was going on. I put it down to these spirits. I'd be carrying on doing everyday stuff and they'd be getting on at the studio.
"I would wake up the next morning and think, I can't remember doing any of that. It's incredible. It was some sort of mad voodoo magic or whatever. Sometimes I'd think, I can't be that good."
Pizzorno has previously described the new record as "heavy as f**k", stating that it contains "big rock tunes".
