Talking to MTV News, the 'Marijuana' rapper claimed that the Dot Da Genius-produced track perfectly demonstrates his growth as an artist and as a man.
"I'm very proud of it; it's something that a year ago I wouldn't have ever imagined that I'd be able to do. It's different, I get that. Some people are going to get it, some people aren't. That's cool," he explained.
"I just don't really give a f**k who does and who doesn't. I mean, I care about the people that do, because that means, alright cool, there some people who have an open mind, who are smart and who get art."
Kid Cudi went on to insist that he would not be deterred by listeners who are "one-track minded" and don't appreciate his unconventional approach to hip-hop.
"The world that I am coming from, hip-hop, is so regurgitated and repetitive that some people are used to that and they don't want change, they don't like change," he said."And I get that, that's cool. Luckily for me, I'm confident in myself as an artist where I can do what I want, and as long as I'm cool with it, I'm cool with it."
Kid Cudi has revealed that he considers his fans to be his "friends" and suggested that he appreciates his listeners more than other artists.
He announced his decision to leave former label Dream On Records earlier this year.
