Kerry Katona has claimed that Nadine Coyle's split from fiancé Jason Bell may not be "a bad thing" for Girls Aloud.

The 'Insatiable' singer confirmed last week that she and Bell had called off their engagement, telling fans: "We are great friends and decided we are better this way."

"It's a shame Nadine Coyle has split up with her fiancé Jason Bell," Katona wrote in her OK magazine column. "But I heard rumours that Girls Aloud are regrouping so maybe it's not a bad thing."

She continued: "It's so difficult to make a relationship last when you're apart. The long distance thing can work but it depends how committed you are and whether you're going to put your job first.

"I'm an old romantic so I'd give anyone a go if I had a connection with him, otherwise you could end up regretting it."

Coyle recently announced that she will release 'Runnin'' as her debut single in America.
