Increased tension within Aerosmith over singer Steven Tyler's decision to join American Idol as a judge put the band's future in doubt earlier this year, but Perry insisted in May that he's put aside any past animosity.
The guitarist has now taken to his official Twitter page to announce that Aerosmith have committed to begin recording sessions next month, writing: "Whole band has plans to go into the studio with [producer] Jack Douglas second week of July to work on new Aero CD. (sic)"
Douglas previously helmed Aerosmith's Get Your Wings, Toys in the Attic and Rocks, among others.
Perry also revealed that he's drawing on suggestions from the band's loyal followers as he undertakes prep work for the project.
The rocker disclosed: "Laying down some new tracks this week.Been listening to fans comments over last couple of yrs putting that in creative blender."
Aerosmith's previous LP Honkin' on Bobo, which featured mostly blues covers, reached the top five of the US album chart upon its release in 2004.
Tyler recently released his own solo single '(It) Feels So Good', a track which he had originally written for Aerosmith.
