Paul Epworth, who recently worked on Adele's multi-million selling LP 21, revealed that the follow-up to 2009's Lungs will be completed next month.
"I'm currently in the studio with Florence working on record number two, I can't wait for people to hear what we've been working on," Epworth told BBC 6 Music.
"At the moment I feel like the record will have a more stripped feel but it has a heavy rhythmic side to it. It's a little less Indie and a little bit more soulful."
He said of singer Florence Welch: ''She's amazing. She's worked really really hard to create such a big body of work, we've whittled a long list of songs to about 16. I just can't wait to get it done. The record will probably be finished by the end of July.''
Welch recently explained that the new record will feature "dark metaphors" and "imaginary things".
