The concert, which was due to take place at Central Park's Great Lawn on Thursday evening, has been postponed due to poor weather in the area.
Taboo from the band posted a message on Twitter which read: "Fergie is really sorry it's not happening we feel horrible .. We are devastated and Fergie told me to tweet this she loves u all.
"I hope that the concert will be rescheduled ASAP, our pea-ple deserve it, my peaple from chase and robinhood deserve this NYC we love u. (sic)"
The Black Eyed Peas concert was expected to draw crowds of around 60,000 people.
Fans were granted admission to the arena half an hour after the 7.30pm ET opening time, but the show was cancelled at around 8.15pm, Billboard reports.
The event was a charity show to promote the work of the Robin Hood Foundation, which partners anti-poverty initiatives across New York City.
An announcement on the organisation's website read: "We are sorry to announce that the 'Concert 4 NYC' has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Thanks for your support."
CMT award winner Taylor Swift, LL Cool J and Natasha Bedingfield were among the other artists on the bill for the show, which was also due to be streamed live online.
There is currently no word on when any rescheduled show will take place.
